Are you seeing more children and adolescents presenting with anxiety? Learn about practical tools to help pediatric clinicians confidently recognize and address anxiety disorders across the developmental spectrum. Age-appropriate screening methods, diagnostic insight, and evidence-based interventions—focusing on cognitive strategies that can be used in everyday clinical settings will also be covered.

Learning objectives:

  1. Describe the “continuum of worry” within the developmental context.
  2. Compare three common anxiety disorders in children/adolescents.
  3. Select appropriate screening and evaluation tools for anxiety based on patient age.
  4. Discuss cognitive strategies that can be used to help pediatric patients with anxiety.

About the Presenter: Kimberly Erlich, MSN, MPH, CPNP-PC, PMHS, CIMHP
Kimberly Erlich is a pediatric nurse practitioner and pediatric mental health specialist practicing in general outpatient psychiatry and in a day treatment program for children and adolescents with eating disorders.

She is also a consulting associate faculty member in the pediatric nurse practitioner program at a top school of nursing program, where she develops and teaches pediatric behavioral health curricula. She holds a Nutritional Psychiatry certification and regularly integrates those treatment strategies into patient care.
