Addressing the Child Mental Health Crisis

There’s never been a more critical time to earn PMHS certification

Take the next step for child mental health

Children, teens, and families need your help more than ever. Respected organizations have declared a national state of emergency for child mental health. As a family or pediatric nurse practitioner, you are in a unique position to combat the epidemic.

With significant shortages of specialty behavioral and mental health providers, children and adolescents need greater access to care.

  • Does part of your day involve activities that contribute to screening, assessment, and health promotion of developmental, behavioral, and mental health (DBMH) conditions?
  • Are you case-finding, diagnosing, and providing early or ongoing management of common DBMH conditions in primary care?

If so, you may be eligible for the Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist (PMHS) exam. Past candidates report that studying for the exam has helped them identify gaps in knowledge, address those gaps, and feel more confident in their practice.
