Update: CPEN® Exam and Program
The Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) and the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) and have mutually agreed to dissolve the joint ownership of the Certified Pediatric
Emergency Nurse (CPEN) program. As such, BCEN is now the sole owner of the CPEN exam and program. PNCB is grateful for our partnership with BCEN these past several years, as together our organizations
developed and launched this much needed and valued certification. BCEN is fully committed to the continued success of the CPEN program.
Service to CPEN exam candidates and current CPENs will not be impacted by this change, and the CPEN credential remains valid for all actively certified CPENs. In addition, BCEN is working closely with the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) to ensure this change in ownership does not affect the current accreditation status of the CPEN program.
