Leaves falling, students returning...

It's been a busy time at the PNCB, and we wanted to share important updates to benefit you and your students.

If you have questions at any time, please contact us at programreview@pncb.org.

PNCB Student Exam Performance Report

The PNCB developed the Student Exam Performance Report in response to your needs. This Report gives feedback needed to potentially strengthen your program. Our Report supports national nursing education accreditation requirements and has been reviewed by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) to meet national certification accreditation standards. The PNCB has produced this Report for you for the last five years. You will now be able to access the Report online 24/7. This Report is updated weekly. View a sample Report>>

Your individualized Report includes a snapshot of aggregate, anonymous student performance, as early as 1977. This Report provides your program's average passing score per year compared to PNCB's national average. The Report also provides information about student performance in exam content areas.

New Benefits

Student Performance Reports on Demand. We have created a secure log-in process to give faculty access to real-time reports, which are updated weekly and available on demand. Please look for our email with your user ID and password within the next few days. We strongly suggest that you limit the number of people who have access to this sensitive information.

Maintaining Program Data Electronically. We also updated our program review procedures to streamline the process for you and your staff. The secure log-in will allow you online access to update and change your program's contact information, add new faculty and remove faculty who are no longer with your program.

And Just for You...

We have added a faculty section to our website that includes resources for students, including application checklists, and how to request free materials to share with students plus...

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): We recently launched a joint effort with the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Programs (AFPNP) called the Partnership for Success Program to create a Frequently Asked Questions section for our faculty area of website. These FAQs were created to address your questions about curriculum design and other important program and student-related concerns.

Faculty Resource Library: Based on our Partnership for Success Program, we have also created an electronic resource library where you'll find links to documents including the APRN Consensus Model, Criteria for Evaluation of Nurse Practitioner Programs, AACN's Essentials documents, and more.

CPNP Pathway II Exam Eligibility

The start of 2010 saw a change to the PNCB's eligibility requirements for our Pathway II exam candidates (those who graduated more than 24 months prior to submission of application). To align with requirements of the new APRN Consensus Model, an updated Documentation of Education Form was launched. We will collect the course name, number and title of the Advanced Physiology & Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacology and Advanced Health Assessment courses on the updated Documentation of Education Form.

We also prefer to accept the Documentation of Education Forms electronically. If you do not have an electronic signature, please type your name and title in the appropriate section of the form and send directly from your email address to exam@pncb.org. If you are not able to electronically submit these forms, you can fax these to 301-330-1504.

2010 Acute Care CPNP® Exam Updates

The PNCB completed national role delineation research to update our Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification exam. During 2009-2010, 35% of nationally certified CPNP-ACs completed a comprehensive practice analysis to identify and update the essential competencies and tasks linked to CPNP-AC practice. The research resulted in a few changes to the current CPNP-AC exam content.

New acute care exam forms based on the updated content outline will be launched 9/15/2010. Please visit our Acute Care CPNP Exam Content Outline/Test Blueprint Page to review the proposed changes and our PowerPoint presentation comparing data from the 2004 and 2009 role delineation studies.
