Healthcare Facilities Receiving Certificates of Recognition from PNCB for the Pursuit of Excellence by Their Certified Pediatric Nurses
Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital pediatric nurses have fulfilled a pledge to earn certification from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
As of January, 2011, all 18 of the 18 pediatric nurses have earned the certification.
"The certification means that parents will know their child is in the best possible hands. It means their children are receiving care from nurses with the highest possible level
of specialized training," said Bayhealth Clinical Care Coordinator for Pediatrics Katye Moore, BSN, RN, CPN.
According to Moore, Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital pediatric nurses originally pledged to earn certification in June, 2010.
The seven pediatric nurses with existing pediatric certification tutored the other 11 pediatric nurses for the vigorous national exam.
By the end of 2010, all 11 of those nurses had passed the exam and earned certification. Moore says certified nurses not only have a
broader base of knowledge but have also demonstrated a higher level of expertise in their specialty area.
Moore credits a team effort by all the pediatric nurses to achieve their ambitious goal of 100 percent certification for the entire pediatric nursing department at Kent General Hospital.
Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital pediatric nurses have also pledged to complete pediatric nursing certification. "We're well on the path to 100 percent certification for the
pediatric nurses at Milford Memorial Hospital. Our patients deserve the best," said Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital Manager of Women's and Children's Services Karen Kelly, RNC-OB, MSN.

In June, 2010, Bayhealth pediatric nurses pledged to earn pediatric certification. Among those nurses who made the pledge are (pictured above, from left to right) Korinne Roach, Kathyrn Moore, Bridget Morton, Anita Baldwin, and Lori Martin. (Hope Martin is the daughter of Lori Martin).
PNCB-certified nursing professionals work in a variety of roles and settings all over the United States and beyond.
