The Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) Exam
The Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB®) and the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) have developed the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) exam. BCEN and the PNCB are equal partners in the development and delivery of this certification exam.
If you are a pediatric emergency nurse who provides urgent and emergent nursing care to pediatric patients and their families, you'll want to learn more about becoming a Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse. Earning your CPEN credential demonstrates that you have extensive experience and the knowledge and abilities related to pediatric emergency nursing care beyond basic RN licensure.

Important Dates
The CPEN beta/pilot testing will be offered October 1 - 31, 2008. Registration for the beta exam will become available on
the AMP website www.goAMP.com on the morning of August 5, 2008. The cost of the beta exam will be $180. 200 applicants will participate in the beta exam. CPEN beta exam candidates will receive their score report between December 2008 and January 2009. The CPEN beta exam will consist of 175 questions, with 25 unscored, pretest items, and candidates will be given three hours to complete the exam.

After the beta exam analysis, the CPEN exam will become available January 2009. Registration for the CPEN exam will become available November 2008. The cost of the exam will be $280.
