Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist Certification Exam

PMHS Recertification

APRNs certified as Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialists (PMHS) will be required to recertify every 3 years following initial certification. Each PMHS will need to enroll in recertification between October 1 and December 31 prior to the year of the expiration date on his or her wallet card. To meet recertification requirements, the PMHS will use a variety of strategies to complete the following requirements:

  • Documentation of 30 contact hours of Pediatric Psychopharmacology earned within a three-year period

and

  • Documentation of CE / contact hours and/or Professional Practice Learning (PPL)* activities (as defined by PNCB Board of Directors) equivalent to 30 contact hours earned within a three-year period

and

  • Attestation that your primary certification (NP or CNS) per PMHS exam eligibility requirements is active and in good standing.

Note: PNCB certificants who are certified as both CPNPs and PMHSs will be able to use earned contact hours to meet the recertification requirements to maintain both their CPNP and PMHS credential. Contact hours obtained for PMHS Recertification can also be applied to CPNP Recertification.
