Important Dates for the Self-Assessment Exercise (SAE)

The deadline for 2008 Recertification Enrollment is December 1, 2007.

December 2007

• Following receipt and successful processing of 2008 Recertification Forms, Self-Assessment Exercises (Primary Care, Peds Pharm and Pediatric Nursing) are mailed beginning December 2007. Allow 3-4 weeks for processing and shipment of your SAE. The SAE will be shipped from the PNCB to street addresses in the US via UPS (United Parcel Service). Shipment to US post office boxes (P.O. Box), APO/FPO or Canadian addresses will be via the USPS (United States Postal Service) Priority Mail. Additional shipping fees are required for shipment of the SAE to a foreign/overseas address. Contact the PNCB to arrange for payment for shipment to a foreign/overseas address. Checks and money orders must be U.S. currency and US banks ONLY.

May 15, 2008 (posted)

• Deadline for return of Self-Assessment Exercise ANSWER SHEET to the PNCB office. Failure to return your answer sheet may jeopardize your certification status with PNCB.

May 16 - June 15, 2008 (posted)

• Late SAE answer sheet return period. SAE answer sheets postmarked during this period will be accepted along with a $50 late fee.

July 2008

• Item Performance Reports (IPRs), Critiques/Answer Booklets, and continuing education certificates mailed to CPNs who successfully complete SAE.

August 15, 2008 - second answer sheet due

• CPNs who to fail achieve a passing SAE score (70%)on first scoring, will be given an additional opportunity to retake the test items which were missed. Following the guidelines listed below will help to assure your completion of the SAE requirement. Please read the following instructions carefully:

  • In order to fulfill your 2008 PN SAE Recertification Program requirement you must redo the items answered incorrectly and pass with a minimum score of 70% of the items missed. These items are noted on your "Individual Performance Report," included in this packet.
  • Use the enclosed answer sheet to redo incorrectly answered items only.
  • An additional $30 re-score/administrative fee will be required and must be included with your new answer sheet in the enclosed return envelope.
  • The completed answer sheet and $30 fee are due on or before August 15, 2008.
  • Upon passing (with a minimum score of 70%), we will send the Critique/Answer booklet and a CE certificate awarding 10 NAPNAP contact hours.
  • If you fail to successfully complete this SAE requirement, your 2008 Recertification Option will be changed to INACTIVE. A Critique will be mailed to you along with a re-score IPR.
