PNCB

Committees

The Board of Directors of the PNCB appoints pediatric nurse practitioners, pediatricians, pharmacologists, and pediatric nursing experts to serve on the various committees of the PNCB.

The committees of the PNCB include:

  • CPN® Exam Committee
  • Pediatric Nursing Self-Assessment Exercise (SAE) Committee
  • CPNP® Primary Care Exam Committee
  • CPNP® Primary Care Self-Assessment Exercise Committee
  • CPNP® Pediatric Pharmacology Self-Assessment Exercise Committee
  • CPNP® Acute Care Exam Committee
  • CPNP® Acute Care Self-Assessment Exercise Committee
  • PNP Program Review Committee

External Item Writers:

In addition to committee members, the PNCB selects certified pediatric nurse practitioners and certified pediatric nurses as external item writers for all committees. Item writer mentoring, workshops and materials are offered by the PNCB to CPNPs® and CPNs® interested in serving as external item writers.

Item writers receive 5 contact hours for use in the PNCB Recertification Program and recognition by name as an author in the self-assessment exercise. Also, when openings arise on our test committees, external item writers who have fulfilled their commitments are the first to be invited to join.

For more information, see our CPN® Item Writer Manual, our Primary Care CPNP® Item Writer Manual, or our Acute Care CPNP® Item Writer Manual. If you have an interest in becoming an external item writer for the PNCB, we'd love to hear from you! Simply fill out our Willingness to Serve Form and email it to us.

To assist in exam credibility, reliability, development and scoring, the PNCB contracts for test evaluation and psychometric services.
